The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Criminal Justice Bureau seeks qualified candidates for Police Attendant. The selected candidates will be responsible for tasks such as but not limited to:
-Receives and vouchers personal property.
-Reports to the desk officer any unusual physical condition of prisoners in custody, or in the detention area.
-Attending to the personal needs of prisoners such as providing food, coffee, clothing, blankets and other essentials.
-Maintaining cleanliness of the cells; checks cells for dangerous items and for properly operating doors.
-Preparing forms and maintains records relevant to assigned duties.
-In the absence of prisoners, performing other clerical or appropriate duties as directed.
Minimum Qual Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization.
In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
