Minimum Qualifications
70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service allocated to a Grade 10 or higher eligible for transfer and determined to be similar by Civil Service.
PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Based on the results of the canvass of the current eligible list for the Stores & Mail Operations Supervisor the Department may elect to make a provisional appointment to this position rather than a permanent appointment. If a provisional appointment is made, the appointed candidate will be required to compete in the next holding of the Stores & Mail Operations Supervisor exam and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list.
The minimum qualifications for Provisional appointment are:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55-B/55-C service in a clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional* title allocated to Grade 7 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at:

Only the title(s) listed is qualifying for this examination(s).
*Only paraprofessional titles in an office environment will be considered qualifying. Service in a direct care title is not qualifying experience. Examples of non-qualifying titles are: Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, Direct Support Assistant, Food Service Worker 1, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, Security Services Assistant, Youth Division Aide 2, and Youth Division Aide 3.

55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:
Current permanent non-competitive state employees certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. To be considered, you must provide a copy of your letter of eligibility with your response.

Duties Description
The Stores & Mail Operations Supervisor duties in the Bureau of Administrative Support Services will include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in completing staff evaluations and performance reports
Scheduling daily tasks and staff assignments
Ensuring staff are properly trained on operating postage machines, material moving equipment, proper lifting techniques and office procedures
Completing daily vehicle use reports, submitting monthly mileage reports
Fleet vehicle maintenance
Reconcile postage and express mail service accounts, maintain postage expense tracking spreadsheets, prepare postage reports
Manage USPS postage permits and PO boxes
Confer with authorities and representatives from USPS, OGS, contracted mailing service providers, express mail carriers to resolve service and billing issues and coordinate services
Prepare postage budget, monitor, and replenish funds
Perform warehouse and stockroom inventory, replenish stock as needed
Prepare and distribute stock inventory reports
Work with various divisions on special mailing projects
Coordinate furniture and small office moves, participate in agency restack and relocations, assemble and install workstation accessories
Maintain material moving equipment (hand carts, flat beds, etc.)
Manage receivables
Supervise daily metered mail operations
Maintain postage handling equipment
Manage records transfer and other types of logistics
