70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service allocated to a Grade 6 or higher eligible for transfer and determined to be similar by Civil Service. Candidates who have not previously served in a keyboarding title will be required to pass the Keyboarding exam*.
PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Based on the results of the canvass of the current eligible list for the Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding the Department may elect to make a provisional appointment to this position rather than a permanent appointment. If a provisional appointment is made, the appointed candidate will be required to compete in the next holding of the Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding exam and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list.
The minimum qualifications for Provisional appointment are: There are no minimum education or experience requirements for these examinations. Candidates who have not previously served in a keyboarding title will be required to pass the Keyboarding exam *.
55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:
Individuals certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. To be considered, you must provide a copy of your letter of eligibility with your response.
You must meet the open competitive qualifications from the most recent examination announcement. KEYBOARDING EXAM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates who have not previously served in a keyboarding title will be required to pass the Keyboarding exam. According to Civil Service, a passing score is the ability to demonstrate a speed of 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy within 5 minutes prior to appointment.
Duties Description
The Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding duties in Address Confidentiality Program will include but are not limited to the following:
Format and type correspondence, reports, forms, charts, and other materials to produce final copy that is accurate and grammatically correct.
Data entry into the Address Confidentiality Database.
Maintain office filing system.
Maintain inventory of supplies and arrange for reorder as necessary.
Handling all functions of incoming and outgoing mail.
Prepare packages and labels for certified/priority mail by using mail meter.
Answering main phone line, as well as additional office lines as necessary.
Screen calls to insure they are answered promptly by appropriate office personnel.
