Infrastructure MGMT Admin
DoITT provides for the sustained, efficient and effective delivery of IT services, infrastructure and telecommunications to enhance service delivery to New York City’s residents, businesses, employees and visitors. As the City’s technology leader, DoITT is responsible for maintaining the foundational IT infrastructure and systems that touch every aspect of City life from public safety to human services, from education to economic development crossing the full spectrum of governmental operations. The successful candidate will serve as a Senior Mainframe Architect Manager reporting to the Infrastructure division. Responsibilities will include: â¢ Manage the groups that support the mainframe hardware, mainframe storage (tape and disk) , and the mainframe open systems (Z/Linux) environment; â¢ Independently plan install, integrate and validate systems software and hardware solutions; â¢ Manage technical change implementation across Z/OS, Z/VM, Z/Linux environments as they pertain to hardware, storage and open systems; â¢ Manage the installation, patching, implementation and decommissioning of all mainframe related hardware; â¢ Manage the mainframe storage environment. This includes enforcing standards for space allocation; â¢ Monitoring available space and support the data backup/restore environment. This also includes the management of the SMS constructs; â¢ Acquire and apply broad knowledge of the business, its products, and processes; â¢ Resolves issues of and navigates obstacles to deliver work product; â¢ Serves as a resource to less experienced team members on escalated issues of a routine nature; â¢ Participate in the evaluation, development, implementation, integration and administration of internal and external business solutions that meet customer needs; â¢ Supervise staff as required; â¢ Provide status on mainframe projects to executives; â¢ Coordinate and recommend any cost savings to the environment; â¢ Attend Change management meetings; â¢ Provide technical assessment and coordinate the necessary resources; and â¢ Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Minimum Qual Requirements:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics or related field and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and ten years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above.
The preferred candidate should possess the following: â¢ Minimum of 10 years of IT experience and related management experience; â¢ Minimum of 10 years of experience in IBM Z/series hardware and software; â¢ Excellent proven management skills; â¢ Able to work effectively under pressure and with frequent changing priorities; â¢ Understanding of hardware monitoring; â¢ Versed in the design and architecture of IBM mainframe hardware and software systems; â¢ Extensive knowledge of z/OS operating system Z/Linux operating system and z/VM operating system; â¢ Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines; â¢ Experience with Change Management and Incident management processes.
