POLICE DEPARTMENT
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring, distributing, installing, and maintaining Local Area Networks, personal computers, mainframe computers, software, and data communications networks, ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.
-Resolve switching, firewall and other network issues.
-Use Microsoft Office applications, including VISIO to clearly document all proposed work and current network topology.
-Provide Data Center supports, including racking and stacking servers, both new and existing.
-Work in conjunction with network, database, servers and application groups to troubleshoot and resolve issues with their respective environments.
-Work in hybrid, AZURE and on premise environment as the network is concerned; perform Data Center cabling and power modification.
-Document and perform upgrades of network equipment; administer and manage VMware NST.
-Design and/or implement technical solutions to business problems and clearly document software installation and configurations, prepare and review technical LAN/WAN documentations as situations dictate.
-Administer and manage CISCO equipment, configure DNS certificates Authority, DHCP, FTP and other protocols in a CISCO environment.
-In temporary absence of the unit supervisor, may perform the duties of that position.

Minimum Qualifications
Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in “1” or
3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2” above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in “1” above.
Note: In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: Incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environments(s) in which they may be assigned to work, as determined by the employing agency.
Preferred Skills
-Clearly and deeply understand Information Technology protocols TCPIP, SFTP/FTP and more. -Understands, installs and configures firewalls in the DMZ and outside the DMZ. -Administer and manage CISCO equipment and clear understanding of CISCO ACI. -Must be fluent in the installation, configuration and management of Palo Alto network, security protocols and equipment. -Knowledge of ServiceNow to submit and complete service requests, tickets and work on various projects. -Be able to use email as communication to complete work with various groups and schedule work to ensure business continuity. -Familiarization with Network monitoring tools is a must-have. -When appropriate, must work with vendors. -Must be able to work various shifts including holidays, nights and weekends as per the needs of the business.
