Job Description:
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation. Transit District Four patrols the subway for the east side of Manhattan. There are currently 135 Police Officers in the command on three platoons. The command patrols the East Broadway station to Broadway Lafayette on the F, Spring to 125 Street and Lexington Avenue station on the 4-5-6, Prince Street to 28 and Broadway on the N-R, Union Square to 1st Avenue on the L, Essex Street to the Bowery on the J and Grand Street on the D. Responsibilities are for roll calls and the 124 Room. This includes the deployment for the personnel under the Operations Coordinator, and or the intake of UF-61’s under the commands crime analysis.
Minimum Qual Requirements:
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and (a) One year of full-time satisfactory experience performing clerical, word processing or data entry duties; or (b) One year of full-time satisfactory experience in public contact work requiring the obtaining and recording of information from persons; or (c) Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college; or (d) Two years of active military duty; or 2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to 1(a), 1(b), 1(c), or 1(d) above. However, all candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent. Skills Requirement (title spec) Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Excel, Word, Omniform, forms database, and the new CPR system
