NYC DEPT OF HEALTH/MENTAL HYGIENE
CAU is the fundamental connection between City Hall and New York City residents throughout the five boroughs. The primary mission of CAU is to establish deep partnerships with communities in order to engage and mobilize New Yorkers. To this end, CAU is directly responsible for integrating government into communities by working with Mayoral agencies to ensure the effective and efficient deployment of government services and the Mayor’s top policy priorities and initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage citywide initiatives across various communities and stakeholders
Coordinate interagency projects
Establish partnerships with communities to engage and mobilize New Yorkers
Integrate government into communities by working with Mayoral agencies to ensure effective and efficient deployment of government services
Advocate for community voices internally and speak to Mayoral priorities externally across neighborhoods and communities of NYC
Proactively address community needs and identify opportunities to deliver agency responses.
Regularly host or attend community meetings to review plans and find areas to focus for collaboration
Identify 1-2 events per month organized in the communities to meet with community leaders and represent the administration
Respond effectively to community issues requiring Mayoral/City Hall/CAU community engagement
Work with all CAU staff to coordinate responses and execute agency-wide initiatives
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
Bachelor’s Degree, preferred;
Experience working with Asian American Pacific Islander populations
Excellent communication skills;
Superior planning and organizational skills, including the ability to effectively juggle multiple projects
Ability to work independently; actively seek collaboration.
