NYC DEPT OF HEALTH/MENTAL HYGIENE
The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is charged with the creation and oversight of programs, policies, services, and environments that support physical and socio-emotional health, and promote primary and reproductive health services, health equity, social justice, safety and well-being for New York City families and children. The Division is comprised of the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health, the Bureau of Early Intervention, the Office of School Health, and the Bureau of Administration. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Recruit, manage and retain Traditional, Transfer, International and District 75 high school along with Middle School partners with their implementation of the selected EBI.
Partner with Assistant Director and the NYC Department of Education’s Office of School Wellness Programs to design training and provide technical assistance.
Create and support cohort of Health Education teachers to foster networking, problem solving, and resource sharing.
Work with evaluation team to conduct research on evidence-based program implementation activities.
Work with the Clinic Engagement team to facilitate the implementation of linkage relationships between partnering schools and local clinics.
Promote the work of NYCTC at Agency wide meetings and professional conferences.
Liaise and work closely with schools, community and school-based clinics, and other implementation partners to facilitate data collection efforts.
Support implementation of Parent Engagement initiative to increase parents’ capacity to talk with their youth about sexual health.
Assist with other duties, tasks, and special projects as may be required by NYCDOHMH.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
Experience with community-based research and evaluation
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Ability to balance multiple projects with varying deadlines
Knowledge and experience working with sexual health curricula preferably evidence -based programs
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals
Driver’s license preferred
Experience working in neighborhoods or with communities experiencing health inequities or other forms of social injustice, familiarity with racial and social justice frameworks and approaches.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
