Transfer Opportunity: New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in title at Grade 11 or above, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide, Grade 13, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description
Under the supervision of a Research Scientist, the Program Aide will support New York State Birth Defects Registry surveillance efforts. Duties will include conducting outreach to hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers related to reporting requirements; preparation of correspondence to birth defects reporters for various outreach efforts; and obtaining and review confidential data to assess eligibility criteria for the New York State Health Commerce System Birth Defects Registry application.
The position will also be responsible for notifying birth defects reporters of outstanding reporting issues or missing information in birth defects reports; processing responses from hospitals; assigning categorical codes to birth defect descriptions; answering questions from birth defects reporters regarding standard birth defects reporting procedures for the Registry; reviewing flagged records to assess data quality issues required corrections; assisting with routine procedures to improve reporting; and preparing and discussing data quality investigation findings with internal staff.
