Public candidates: Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service’s Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list #26-872 with a score of 100 or higher OR qualified 55-B/C candidate in possession of a Bachelor’s or higher degree.
Preferred Qualifications: 3 years of experience in a health, human service, or community-based organization; at least 3 years implementing Microsoft related projects specifically in Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams; at least 3 years in an administrative position or performed administrative responsibilities; at least 2 years of working with staff from different levels including senior management.
Duties Description
Reporting to the Director, the Health Program Administrator/Trainee will aid in coordinating the day-to-day practices of the office, communications, priority planning and perform tasks to support the ODEI that is responsible for advancing programs, initiatives, and services within the Department of Health to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Department’s workforce. The Health Program Administrator Trainee will work with five units under the ODEI. More specifically, the incumbent will coordinate and monitor administrative and operations management activities of ODEI; provide administrative coordination and programmatic support to the ODEI’s Centers and Units and internal and external groups and activities; represent the ODEI and assist in coordination of special projects that advances the mission and priorities of ODEI; and participate in fiscal and contract management activities.

Full-time, permanent appointment. Transfer candidates, you may be asked for a Social Security Number to verify your transfer eligibility. Occasional travel, including overnights, throughout New York State including to areas not served by public transportation may be required (40%).
Depending on candidate qualifications, the position may be filled at the Health Program Administrator Trainee 1 or 2 levels. Traineeships are non-statutory, resulting in Salary Grade 18 upon completion.
