NYC Parks manages more than 30,000 acres or 14% of the city’s land, encompassing more than 5,000 individual properties. Our diverse set of assets includes recreational facilities, nature centers, historic buildings and structures, golf courses, athletic fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, public pools, public restroom buildings, retaining walls and nearly 14 miles of beaches.
Major Responsibilities
– Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform responsible work to support the operation’s division in Prospect Park.
– Utilize NYC’s Park’s Fleet database to manage and track vehicles.
– Organize employee parking permits, gas cards and gas PINs.
– Schedule authorized driver tests, Defensive Driving training and road tests with the Parks Academy.
– Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs and inspections for Prospect Park Alliance, Litchfield Villa staff vehicles and other vehicles as needed.
– Coordinate and track annual ballfield inspections and schedule ballfield light timers.
– Create work orders and work requests in the Asset Management Park System (AMPS), assist with storehouse supply requisitions and route Daily Immediate Attention hazards and track progress through completion.
– Manage the relationship with vendors providing materials and/or services in the park.
– Process incident and accident reports.
– Coordinate signage requests.
– Manage special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
Preferred Skills
1. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. 2. Strong writing, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. 3. Excellent customer service skills. 4. Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. 5. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
