The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner operates a number is seeking qualified candidates to join their Information Security Unit in the Information Technology Division. The candidate will join a team of Engineers who supports 750+ users in nine (9) locations. This position encompasses highly technical responsibilities for the analysis, implementation, troubleshooting, enhancement, maintenance, and security of the OCME network.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
– Assist in maintaining security policies and procedures in coordination with DOITT and NYC Cyber Command
– Administer, Configure, Secure Wireless Phones, Tablets, and devices.
– Perform Security Vulnerability remediation of End User Workstations, Laptops, and Tablets
– Administer, Create, and Maintain patch management schedule based on the needs of the agency.
– Maintain required patch levels for Workstations, Laptops, and Tablets regularly as dictated in the patching schedule utilizing automation via software or scripting
– Safely decommission Workstations, Laptops, and Tablets devices as per NYC guidelines while adhering to security best practices
– Troubleshoot and research desktop PC, laptop, laptop hardware, and network related issues
– Support IT security operations as an escalation resource
– Participate in security incident handling
– Provide excellent customer service
– Maintain consistent and clear communication with both customers and management

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and three years of satisfactory experience in any of the areas described in “1” above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2”, above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in “2” above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. In addition, twenty-four (24) credits from an accredited college or graduate school in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of experience.
Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
