Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Executive Assistant will be responsible for providing day to day administrative support to the Office of the Commissioner. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Logging, tracking, reviewing, and responding to inquiries and correspondence received in the Commissioner’s Office timely and accurately.
– Managing the Ask the Commissioner mailbox, which allows staff to submit their ideas, recommendations, and questions to the Commissioner.
– Managing daily office operations (e.g., answering phones, managing the commissioner’s schedule/calendar, greeting visitors).
– Coordinating/leading quarterly Commissioner’s Office meetings (e.g., developing the agenda, identifying speakers/topics for discussion, hosting meeting).
– Providing quality assurance for all documents being sent or published on behalf of the Commissioner (e.g., memoranda, policies, internal/citywide reports). This includes interacting with abovementioned documents’ creators to understand content and ensure accurate and intended messaging. Making corrections as necessary, ensuring timely delivery of final document(s).
– Preparing written communications, such as memos, letters, PowerPoint presentations, reports, and instructional documents, as needed.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
