DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION
The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
The DOC seeks to recruit a Community Associate to assist with all aspects of Time Keeping and customer service. Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of the unit, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
– Review timekeeping documents and actions.
– Provide excellent customer service by troubleshooting time and leave issues submitted
by uniformed and civilian employees.
– Post and approve transactions in CityTime, the City’s timekeeping system, in
accordance with set deadlines.
– Complete 0150s and 0180s in CityTime for separating and returning employees.
– Run and review system reports on time and pay activity and adjust course as needed.
– Review and implement DP-2001 submissions and process manual leave adjustment
transactions in CityTime.
– Ensure time and leave transactions in CityTime cascaded properly into the payroll
system.
– Assist agency staff in understanding citywide and agency rules and procedures related
to timekeeping.
– Ensure all activity undertaken are in full compliance with applicable laws, rules,
policies, standards, and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above.
Preferred Skills
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 keystrokes (20 words) per minute.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
