The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Citizens and Non-Citizens within Fort Hamilton’s local commuting area defined as Kings, Queens, New York, Richmond, Bronx, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Essex, Union, Middlesex, Somerset, Monmouth, Fairfield counties. This position is located with the Fort Hamilton Community Club.
Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items both working alone or with the assistance of a higher-grade cook or supervisor.
Monitors and maintains appropriate temperature of all food items throughout preparation and service.
Picks up items needed for menu preparation, rotating food inventories as appropriate.
Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items.
Uses, cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment and keeps the cooking utensils cleaned and ready for use.

Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty
Subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Ch. 2-15j(1) to include a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities
Required to complete a medical examination within 30 days of hire
Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.

Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to:
1) Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
2) Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
3) Ability to keep things neat, clean, and in order.
4) Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
5) Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
6) Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
7) Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
8) Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequently walk, bend, stoop, pull, push and reach.
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
