Open Competitive: Seven years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
An Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years, respectively.
Preferred Qualification: Six years of experience producing, shooting and editing exceptional commercial or social media videos. Experience in live event production is a plus. College study in a related field may be substituted for up to four years of experience with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience.
Duties Description
The Public Information Office (PIO) at the Department of Civil Service is responsible for maintaining a broad-based communications program to ensure that all interested constituent groups are aware of Department programs and services. The Director of Public Information serves as the spokesperson for the Department and communicates proactively through media interaction and the dissemination of announcements to the general public. In addition, the Office administers the agency’s public website, social media channels and responds to general inquiries from job seekers, State employees, and other constituents. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content) will develop engaging videos to help promote public service career opportunities and services and programs offered by the Department of Civil Service. The Department is looking for highly creative production and live event videographer, who thrives in a collaborative team environment, and who loves the challenge of producing impactful video campaigns. Specific duties include:
Develop engaging videos to help promote public service career opportunities
Produce and write highly creative promotional videos that help demystify the civil service process and help extol the values of careers in public service.
Shoot and edit on-location and in-house videos assigned by communications leaders
Manage and track progress of projects to ensure timely completion
Ensure on-time execution and delivery of high-quality video productions
Cover Department events and production shoots, which may require travel
Develop and pitch video story ideas
Act as crew chief/field producer for certain off-site shoots
Set up and operate in field productions
Conduct interviews with video subjects and coach on-screen talent and voice talent
Provide photography services and run photo shoots.
Work closely with colleagues throughout the Department to support multimedia requests and needs
Stay up to date and keep team informed on video best practices, trending topics and innovations that will enhance video effectiveness
Help evaluate effectiveness of videos and track video statistics.
