REASSIGNMENT QUALIFICATIONS: Current Department of Civil Service employees with one year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service as an Office Assistant 1, if less than one year, must be currently reachable on the Beginning Office Assistant eligible list for the Albany location if one exists.

55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Duties Description
The Testing Services Division is responsible for the development, administration, scoring and validation of the examinations provided to the public for State agencies and local jurisdictions. To better serve New Yorkers and make examinations more accessible and convenient for all, the Department is implementing a new examination model known as continuous recruitment testing that will offer testing on a continuous basis with examinations held via a hybrid of online training and experience exams, multiple-choice exams via remote proctoring (online), and in state operated computer-based testing centers and this position will help play an important role in ensuring the success of this new approach to examinations.
The Office Assistant 1 assists the Office Assistant 2 of the Exam Scoring and Results Processing Unit (ESRPU) and is responsible for the following:
Identifying, evaluating, recording and checking examination material received from State and local test centers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Processing State and local computational review requests from candidates who wish to determine how their exams were scored.
Producing letters to candidates regarding their review and compiling review packages to be sent to State centers or local jurisdictions.
Scanning and processing records and documents using a desktop scanner and maintaining electronic files of scanned documents.
Organizing and maintaining files of decentralized examination material.
Collecting and delivering examination and testing related materials as needed.
