MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form:
Graduation from a regional accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree or higher and TWO (2) YEARS of full-time paid experience performing commercial HVAC and plumbing journeymen operations, maintenance, and diagnostic work and repairs; OR
Graduation from High School or possession of a GED and FOUR (4) YEARS of full-time paid experience performing commercial HVAC and plumbing journeymen operation, maintenance, and diagnostic work and repairs.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid and current NYS drivers license, and must maintain said license throughout the duration of employment.
Must obtain a plumber’s license within the probationary period.

DUTIES:
An incumbent of this class performs heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and plumbing maintenance and repair, including responsibility for planning and implementing a HVAC and plumbing maintenance and repair program.
This level is fully proficient in the skills and practices of the trade with full knowledge of the principles, tools, and techniques.
The incumbent plans and lays out work, estimates materials, and costs; performs and oversees a wide variety of plumbing work on heating, air-conditioning and ventilation for City owned building and facilities.
The work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works and direct supervision of the Department of Public Works Business Manager with considerable independence allowed in accordance with goals, written policies/procedures and trade standards.
The work requires on-call and available on a 24-hour, 7 day per week basis to be responsive to emergencies or as required.
Incumbent does related work as required.
