The Emergency Response Social Worker (ERSW) Supervisor will ensure the effective staff operations of the Person in Crisis (PIC) Team. In consultation with the Manager of Crisis Intervention Services, the ERSW Supervisor will work to ensure that the PIC Team is providing consistent service to residents of the City of Rochester by maintaining and supporting team protocols and procedures, providing office and in-the-field supervision and oversight and assisting with community engagement efforts which includes marketing, education, outreach and training opportunities benefiting the community. The ERSW Supervisor will also assist with onboarding new staff and ongoing staff training to increase team morale and proficiency.
This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.
A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
Typical Work Activities
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
Maintain and update PIC Team schedule and time card approval
Monitor daily operations
Assist/Lead onboarding, professional development trainings, and team meetings
Assist with the implementation and enforcement of systems, policies, and procedures
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards by managing workflow
Maintain consistent communication with management
Observe and evaluate staff performance and provide feedback
Identify and share career advancement opportunities
Assists with communicating and resolving employee issues and disputes
Respond to internal and external complaints from staff, community partners or stakeholders
Continue to research and share resources to help clients, staff and the community
Facilitate shift team meetings
Ensure documentation and data entry is completed correctly by staff
Assist with PIC calls
Embrace cultural diversity/cultural competence
Attend Professional development trainingsworkshops to continuously improve as a leader
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or closely related field that includes substantial course work in counseling; and (1) year experience in crisis intervention and direct service to vulnerable populations AND 1 year of supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or closely related field that includes substantial course work in counseling; AND 3 years of experience in crisis intervention and direct service to vulnerable populations AND 1 year of supervisory experience.
NYS Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License at the time of appointment. This license must be maintained throughout employment in this title.
