LOCATION: Ithaca Police Department
SALARY: $74,000, with subsequent increases to $94,37
The City of Ithaca is seeking highly qualified transfer applicants to fill immediate Police Officer openings.
The Ithaca Police Department prides itself on providing its officers with the best training possible and the
best equipment available. IPD officers are focused on working together with the community to reduce
crime and to help maintain Ithaca as a safe place to live, work and visit.
HIRING BONUS
Police Officers who transfer to the Ithaca Police Department and commit to two years of service will receive
a $20,000 hiring bonus. $10,000 will be paid upon hire; $10,000 will be paid after completion of the first
year of employment.
TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be eligible for transfer or reinstatement as a Police Officer pursuant to § 58 and § 70 of
NYS Civil Service Law and the City of Ithaca Civil Service Rules, including:
Current employment, or past employment within 12 months, as a permanently appointed competi-
tive class Police Officer or Deputy Sheriff with a NYS municipality, the NYS Park Police, the NYS
Department of Environmental Conservation, the SUNY Police, or the NYC Department of Environ-
mental Protection. Permanent appointment must have come from a civil service eligible list estab-
lished pursuant to NYS Civil Service Law.
Please Note: Police Officers employed by the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Police Officers employed
by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and NYS Troopers are not eligible for transfer.
Current Police Officer certification from the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services.
A valid NYS Class D driver license or equivalent.
