Description of Work
Position Definition: Assists library by re-shelving materials and keeping shelves in good order, making it easier for staff and patrons to find and use materials.
Example of Duties: Shelve and retrieve materials. Simple filing, photocopying, checking bibliographies against holdings in OPAC, simple word processing, creating mailing lists on computer, address and stuff envelopes, art work, mending library materials, processing print and non-print materials, assisting with programs. Individual will work anywhere between 8-19.5 hours per week, averaging at about 12 hours per week.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to use computers desirable. Willingness and ability to work in any department, and to work evenings and/or weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Student in good standing if in high school, or high school diploma or GED. Preferred minimum age is 16, to allow for flexibility in number of hours worked, and evening and weekend hours during school year. Minimum hiring age is 14. Working papers must be obtained through school system.
