Job Description:
The Stolen Property Inquiry Section provides support functions to patrol personnel receiving, maintaining and disseminating information on lost or stolen serialized property, felony stolen vehicles, ballistic sheets, and recovered guns. Transmits, modifies and cancels alarms on stolen / recovered serialized property and felony vehicles. Works closely with other law enforcement agencies to confirm alarms. Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent action, initiative or decision, the Senior Police Administrative Aides will supervise the administrative office with roll call, timekeeping, and clerical duties, as well as the operational floor. The Stolen Property Inquiry Section operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Minimum Qual Requirements:
ELIGIBILITY TO BE PROMOTED: In order to be eligible for promotion, you must have completed your probationary period in the eligible title as indicated in the above Eligibility To Take Examination section, and you must be permanently employed in the eligible title or your name must appear on a Preferred List for the eligible title at the time of promotion. Additionally, you must have served permanently in the eligible title for at least one year.

Additional Information:
This lateral opportunity is open to current Senior Police Administrative Aides only. Applicants’ time and leave records, disciplinary records, and performance evaluations will be reviewed and taken into consideration. If selected, a Commanding Officer’s recommendation is needed prior to the transfer.

Residency Requirement:
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
