BRONX DISTRICT ATTORNEY
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and to pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. Trial Preparation Assistants Level 1 (TPAs) Support Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) with all aspects of investigations and trial preparation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retrieve all evidence, property and pertinent documents from court and various City agencies; included but not limited to requesting Giglio Material. Underlying documents related to discovery; request/order needed case documents, including minutes, medical records, including returning evidence to NYPD property clerk’s office, etc.
Prepare and file certain legal documents; including but not limited to xeroxing and scanning of documents upon request.
Maintain file room and filing system for open and closed; including but not limited to the securing of all exhibits for potential appellate purposes and securing necessary property release forms.
Log in closed cases, warrant cases and investigations, boxing and labeling closed cases for storage.
Update and maintain record of closed cases to provide items to Operations as well as maintain a list for closed investigations (JD investigations) to be kept internally.
Notify officers, serve subpoenas, and/or notice to appear.
Receptionist coverage (if required by respective bureau)
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree preferred, a high school diploma/GED, or two years’ experience performing paralegal duties in a law firm, government agency, or other professional environment.
A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of one (1) years of driving experience is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Able to lift 20 LBS boxes.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and video applications.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tasks.
Good organizational skills
Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Exhibit the capacity to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment, responding to colleagues on multiple deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
